FORTUNA – Eel River Brewing Company is producing the first certified organic beer produced by a California micro-brewery.

Organic Amber Ale, which was released into the market in early June, is expected to meet public demand.

“This beer is fantastic,” Ted Vivatson, Eel River Brewing Company owner said. “It’s light, mellow and it tastes great. We are excited about providing this beer to the marketplace. There has been a demand for a certified organic product that we will be able to meet. People want this beer both because of taste and its healthy attributes.”

Fortuna’s Eel River Brewing Company, owned and operated by Vivatson and his wife Margaret, is one of the most award-winning breweries in California. Their beers have won gold and silver medals at the Great American Beer Festival, a national competition, in 1998 and 1997. They have won more than 20 awards at the California State Craft Brewers Competition.

The Eel River Brewing Company was established in 1995. Along with their line of microbrews, they also feature a full dining menu.
