26 years ago, as the first shovel struck ground, ravens graced the property where Eel River Brewing Co. stands today. On very rare occasions ravens flock together and that is called an UNKINDNESS.
To celebrate 26 years of brewing exceptional and award winning beer, Eel River Brewing has aged the classic Raven’s Eye Imperial Stout in Balcones Texas rye whiskey barrels, imparting decadent notes of chocolate, oak, spice, espresso and rye. This beer is a true celebration, as rare as an Unkindness, and as rich as the raven’s forgotten lore.
“In early 2021 we contacted every barrel broker in the industry looking for something special. Somehow we were fortunate enough to find 8 Balcones Texas Rye whiskey barrels.” explained head brewer, Mike Smith. “Raven’s Eye Stout was aged in these for about 10 months and the results speak for themselves. Monstrous flavors of whiskey, rye, vanilla, and oak brought the already killer Ravens Eye into a whole new plain of existence.”
Eel River Brewing will be hosting a live virtual tasting on December 9th, at 5PM. Join the ERB owners on Instagram Live while they sample various aged stouts, as well as select Balcones whiskey! Viewers are encouraged to grab a four pack of Unkindess and a bottle of Balcones Texas Rye Whiskey to taste along with the guided livestream!
A limited supply of Texas Rye Whiskey Barrel Aged UNKINDNESS will be available in 16 ounce 4 packs at your local retailer starting November 19th, 2021. In addition, UNKINDNESS will be available in draft and 22oz bottles will be available only at the Pub in Fortuna, CA.
